Cost estimates

These ranges are network rate estimates across all the insurance plans that Dr. Shah accepts.

Note: These are just estimates. We advise verifying the exact costs with your provider.

Broken foot bone repair (non-surgical) $432 – 860
Broken forearm repair (non-surgical) $813 – 2,057
Broken shoulder repair (non-surgical) $755 – 2,146

Amino’s cost estimates are estimates of the total amount that you and your health insurance company might pay for a procedure—this is what we call the “network rate”. Our cost estimates can help you prepare for the financial impact of medical care and help you make more confident decisions about where to get treated.

Repeat knee replacement rate

Dr. Shah’s repeat knee replacement rate is similar to the rate we predicted for his mix of cases and patients.
Dr. Shah’s rate < 1%
Predicted rate < 1%

As a patient, you may prefer a doctor who has a lower rate of repeat knee replacement to improve your odds of having an uncomplicated recovery after surgery.

Decision factor

Compared to predicted rates calculated for each doctor’s unique mix of cases and patients

  • Lower than our predicted rate
  • Higher than our predicted rate
  • Similar to our predicted rate

If you need a knee replacement, chances are you only want to have the procedure once. But some people need to have knee replacements done over again, sometimes due to prosthetic damage or infection from a first surgery. Not only is there pain, inconvenience, additional cost, and recovery time associated with a second surgery, but studies have also shown that the rate of complications after a revision of a knee replacement surgery is greater than for a primary knee replacement.

To help you understand how Dr. Shah’s rate of repeat knee replacement compares to a typical doctor’s:

  1. We first measure how many of Dr. Shah’s primary knee replacements resulted in a second knee replacement within 90 days of the first one— we call this their repeat knee replacement rate.
  2. We then analyze the typical practices of all other doctors in the United States who perform primary knee replacements, using a statistical model to predict the repeat knee replacement rate for patients like Dr. Shah’s.

By comparing these two numbers, you can see whether Dr. Shah’s rate of repeat knee replacement is lower than, similar to, or higher than the predicted rate.

This prediction is adjusted based on the types of patients the doctor sees, so a doctor who treats sicker patients will have a different predicted rate than one who treats healthier patients.
